Food Processing Belt Installation and Fabrication

Fastening Options

Belt Welding
The ability to thermally weld two prepared belt ends together allows for a seamless finish that minimizes the potential for bacteria growth.

Weld Options:

Platen Press Welding Guidelines for the Novitool® Aero™ Splice Press

Legacy Butt Welders – Can be modified to accept the Gates Mectrol “split tooth” weld technique

  • Provides for a more robust weld by joining the belts in the tooth (three times more surface area welded)

Urethane Belt Load vs. Stretch Comparison

  • PosiClean can take up to four times the load of unsupported "blue" belts
  • Extremely length stable, eliminating the need for retensioning
Urethane Belt Load vs. Stretch Comparison Chart

This pin fastened method meets low to medium load requirements without welding to achieve the maximum allowable tension of 26 lbs/in.

Belt ends are prepared at the factory and the belt is joined by a single pin inserted after the belt is placed in position on the equipment.

This "living” fastening solution allows for removal and replacement of the belt as often as desired – without ever having to weld.

Fabrication Capabilities

Add a flight to carry your product up an incline. For product that could fall off the belt, select a sidewall on one or both sides. Accordion shape performs smoothly over pulleys. V-guides provide notched construction for extra flexibility around tight belt paths.
